Manycolors dials in the lofi vibes without a hitch in their debut track, “Bangs.” With a heavy influence spurring from J. Dilla, guitarist Brant Williams aims to capture all the musicians as if they were sampled while cultivating a fresh harmonic approach. Williams alongside Eric Luba (Fender Rhodes), Kirwan Brown (bass), and Braxton Kahn (drums) veer into chordal colors that are traditionally explored in jazz, but are now sonically hailed in multiple brands of “crossover” genres garnering attention from music lovers across the board.
Produced / recorded / mixed by Mike Tallman
"Gladys" is the sonic embodiment of gazing out the window reflecting on times past. In this track Manycolors displays a thoughtful brand of J. Dilla-inspired lofi soul-hop including a warm layer of violin and a subtle rhythmic swagger. The chord structure stimulates deep thought and can even elicit visual depictions of an animated Disney film, thus making this track an ideal addition for Lo-Fi playlists designed for rest, relaxation and concentration. This track is part of a series on Color Red.

"Rust" finds Manycolors exploring new sonic spaces. The initial groove is a lush and spacious lofi soundscape that surrounds the listener with layers of subtle textures and heavy backbeat. The song builds to culmination with a psychedelic bridge featuring heavy synth pads and swirling guitar interplay in both speakers. An analog rewind drops in to a classic lofi outro with piano improvisation over grooving bass and drums.
